The University of Florida dates back to 1853 with the establishment of the Florida Seminary. In 1906, the Seminary moved to Gainesville and merged with the state’s land-grant Florida Agriculture College and became the University of Florida. Today the University of Florida is ranked nationally; first among public universities and second among all universities in number of National Achievement Scholars in the freshmen class, second and fourth in number of National Merit Scholars and fifth for largest enrollment in all U.S. universities for the year 2003.
The University of Florida College of Pharmacy was founded in 1923 with 43 students. It has grown to over 800 students at 4 campuses and another 600 or so in the national and international Working Professional PharmD Program.
The new HPNP Building, inaugurated in 2003, houses the College of Pharmacy with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities outfitted with the latest in technology and audiovisual communications equipment.
